About Avocado Toast
To be honest, in my family, it is only me who loves avocado toast. I can eat it for breakfast, brunch, or even for lunch and dinner. So for me, it is not a spring or summer recipe, but I can have it any time of the year.
Making avocado toast is super quick and hardly takes five minutes. It is creamy, full of flavors, healthy, comforting, and nutritious. The most amazing part is that we can add as many flavors as we prefer. In addition, there are endless options for the toppings.
I have toasted homemade whole wheat bread for this recipe. However, you can use any bread slices of your choice. Also, feel free to take this recipe as a base and swap the flavors and toppings to your likings. I have also mentioned the variations in the post; please continue reading.
Ingredients
- Bread: While we can choose any type of bread to make this recipe; my personal favorite is whole wheat or multigrain bread. That makes the meal wholesome, hearty, and healthy as well. Also, I will recommend using thick and sturdy bread slices. Toast the bread well and make it crispy for the perfect recipe.
- Avocado: Look for the ripe avocado but not overripe. Very firm and unripe avocado will make the toast bitter. Avoid using avocados that are mushy and stringy inside. After cutting avocados, if you run into brown flesh, scoop those out, and discard them.
- Salt and Black Pepper: Add the salt and black pepper to taste. You can skip adding black pepper but do not leave out the salt. Salt elevates the flavors and makes the avocado toast perfect.
- Lemon Juice: I love adding lemon or lime juice to this creamy avocado toast. It adds a perfect zest and prevents the browning of avocado for longer.
- Red Pepper Flakes: Add the red pepper flakes for some heat. However, it is optional, and you can leave it out.
- Coriander Leaves: Adds the freshness and earthy flavor to this avocado toast.
