About Me
I am Jigna, the food blogger, recipe developer, photographer, and creator behind Vege Home Cooking.
I was born and raised in India and moved to Canada in 2006. What started as a hobby in my kitchen has grown into a career that allows me to combine my love for food, creativity, and the ability to share with others to cook and bake with confidence.
Before becoming a full-time food blogger, I worked as a microbiologist and then a data reviewer in the clinical research field.
Although I enjoyed my profession, I found myself spending more and more time thinking about recipes, experimenting with ingredients, and planning my next baking project.
Eventually, my passion for food became impossible to ignore. I decided to follow that passion and dedicate myself fully to recipe development and food blogging.
Looking back, it is one of the best decisions I have ever made.
My Food Journey
My love for food began long before I started blogging.
Growing up in India, I watched my mother create wonderful meals and constantly experiment with new dishes. Her creativity in the kitchen inspired me to start cooking at a young age.
After moving to Canada, I became even more passionate about cooking and baking. Since our family follows a no-onion, no-garlic vegetarian diet, and eggless baking options were often limited, I started recreating and developing recipes at home.
Those early experiments eventually became the foundation of Vege Home Cooking.
Why I Love Baking
While I enjoy all kinds of cooking, baking has always been my greatest passion.
There is something incredibly rewarding about transforming simple ingredients into cakes, muffins, cookies, breads, and desserts. Developing eggless recipes is especially exciting because it combines creativity, science, and problem-solving.
Baking is my stress reliever, my creative outlet, and one of the things that brings me the most joy.
Meet My Family
Behind every recipe is my biggest support system, my family.
My husband, Prashant, shares my enthusiasm for good food and plays an important role behind the scenes. He helps with video production and editing, making it possible to bring many of my recipes to life beyond the blog.
Our son, Dhumin, is my most honest food critic. He never hesitates to share his opinion, which makes him one of my most valuable taste testers.
Why Eggless Baking?
One of the biggest inspirations behind this website was the challenge of finding good-quality eggless baked goods after moving to Canada.
As someone who loves baking, I started developing my own eggless cakes, muffins, cookies, breads, brownies, and desserts. What started as a personal challenge soon became one of the most popular parts of this website.
Today, eggless baking remains one of my greatest passions, and I continue to create recipes that are flavorful and easy to replicate in your own kitchen.

Why No Onion No Garlic Recipes?
Many readers discover Vege Home Cooking because they are looking for recipes without onion and garlic, and I completely understand the challenge. As someone who has followed a No Onion No Garlic diet for most of my life, I know how difficult it can be to find recipes that don't use onion and garlic but are still flavorful and delicious.
Growing up in India, this style of cooking was a natural part of our family meals, and it remains the way I cook for my family today. Over the years, I have learned that great flavor comes from thoughtful combinations of spices, herbs, tomatoes, yogurt, nuts, and fresh ingredients.
Through Vege Home Cooking, I hope to help readers discover that no-onion, no-garlic cooking can be just as delicious, comforting, and satisfying as any other cooking style. Whether you follow this diet for religious, cultural, dietary, or personal reasons, you'll find recipes here that are easy to make and full of flavor.

Our Recipe Philosophy
I believe that great food does not have to be complicated.
My recipes are designed to:
- Use simple ingredients
- Requires minimal special equipment
- Be easy to follow
- Deliver consistent results
- Fit into busy lifestyles
Many of my recipes are inspired by Indian home cooking, while others reflect flavors and techniques I have discovered throughout my years in Canada.
Recipe Testing Process
Every recipe published on Vege Home Cooking is tested multiple times before it goes live. I carefully measure ingredients, refine techniques, and make adjustments until I am confident that readers can successfully recreate the recipe in their own kitchens.
My goal is to provide recipes that are not only delicious but also reliable.
