Healthy Berry Blast Smoothie
Smoothies are a spring and summer drink, but they are also good all around the year. Frozen berries are readily available, so we can make this smoothie anytime.
Homemade smoothies are much better than store-bought. They are fresh and easy to make, and we can choose only the best quality fruits and other ingredients. In addition, making smoothies at home means saving in your pocket and cutting down on unnecessary sugars.
This Berry Blast Smoothie is incredibly easy to make with only six ingredients, including an optional sweetener. It contains protein, minerals, calcium, fiber, and healthy carbs, making it a good option for quick weekday breakfasts or post-workout snacks.
As soon as spring starts, we are ready for smoothies until the cold days start again. My son loves to drink smoothies after school and for breakfast on summer mornings. It is my favorite mid-morning drink or when I want something lighter for my lunch after a heavy breakfast.
I try different elements and flavors to make smoothies more enjoyable and healthier. My blog has several smoothie recipes, and I am sure you will want to try more than one.
I have used unsweetened almond milk to make this berry blast smoothie, but you can add your choice of dairy-free milk. I like to use low-fat Greek yogurt for more protein with fewer calories. But plain yogurt will work perfectly fine if you do not have Greek yogurt.

Ingredients and Notes
- Berries: I made the smoothie using frozen strawberries and blueberries, which make it thick and frosty. However, you can also use fresh berries and add ice cubes while blending the smoothie. You do not have to use only strawberries and blueberries to make this smoothie. You can use your favorite blend of berries or add raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries.
- Greek Yogurt: I love adding Greek yogurt to smoothies to make them filling and protein-packed. I used low-fat Greek yogurt, which is low in calories but high in protein. However, you can add whole milk Greek yogurt or plain yogurt if you prefer. Vanilla Greek yogurt is another good option.
- Almond Milk: Almond milk goes well with berries and oats. You can also use your choice of dairy-free milk, such as cashew or oat milk. However, I do not recommend using dairy milk.
- Rolled Oats: Adding oats makes the smoothie creamy, rich, and thick. Rolled oats are also nutritious and keep the stomach full for longer. You can also use quick oats instead of rolled oats.
- Natural Sweetener: I love adding maple syrup for sweetness, but you can add other natural sweeteners of your choice. If you prefer a mildly sweet smoothie with the natural sweetness of berries, skip adding any sweetener.
How To Make Berry Blast Smoothie
- Add the strawberries, blueberries, almond milk, yogurt, oats, and maple syrup to a high-power blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
- Add more milk if you prefer a thinner consistency.
- If you use fresh berries, add a handful of ice cubes.
- Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve immediately.
Variations
Make It Vegan: For a dairy-free Berry Blast Smoothie, use non-dairy yogurt or skip it. If you skip yogurt, add a couple of tablespoons more rolled oats. You can also add avocado chunks and skip yogurt.
Nuts: To give the smoothie a nutty twist, add a few whole almonds to the blender.
Seeds: Add chia seeds or hemp seeds.
Coconut Cream: Instead of yogurt and dairy-free milk, add coconut cream for a creamy, rich, and thick smoothie.
Banana: You can add a banana or a frozen banana for natural sweetness and more nutrients.
Baby Spinach: Adding a handful of spinach will make the smoothie nutritious and healthier.
Avocado: Add avocado chunks to make the smoothie extra creamy and thick. This is also good if you want a non-dairy smoothie; you can skip yogurt and add avocado.
Protein Powder: Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder for an extra protein boost.
Dates: Add 1-2 dates instead of maple syrup to make the smoothie sweeter.
Recipe Tips For Berry Blast Smoothie
Berries: I used frozen berries, but you can also use fresh strawberries and blueberries. Add a handful of ice to the blender if you use fresh fruits. You can add other fruits with the berries to make this smoothie more flavorful. Add frozen mangos, pineapple, bananas, or orange juice.
Consistency: If you like the thinner smoothie, add more almond milk as needed. If you prefer a thicker consistency, add less almond milk.
Rolled Oats: I always use rolled oats for smoothies, but you can also try it with quick oats.
Maple Syrup: This is my favorite sweetener, and I used golden maple syrup. But you can add honey or agave instead of maple syrup.
