Broccoli Stir Fry / Indian Style Broccoli Stir Fry

Ingredients
  

For Cornstarch Mixture:

  • Cup water
  • 2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon soya sauce ((Skip for Gluten-Free diet))

For Broccoli Stir Fry:

  • 400 gms Broccoli florets ((bite-size) rinsed and patted dry)
  • Prepared cornstarch mixture
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Garam Masala powder ((Add more if you prefer))
  • ¼ teaspoon Chaat Masala powder
  • Lime juice to taste ((Optional))
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnishing ((Optional))

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the broccoli florets and drain the water. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, mix water, cornstarch, sugar, and soya sauce. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add chopped ginger. Fry the ginger for a minute, and then add sesame seeds.
  • Fry the sesame seeds for about a minute or until it is golden.
  • Add broccoli florets, and mix well.
  • Cook broccoli for 3 minutes on moderately high heat.
  • Add cornstarch mixture, mix well and continue cooking on moderately high heat until broccoli florets are tender but still firm. It will take about 4-5 minutes.
  • Add salt, Garam Masala, Chaat Masala and mix well.
  • Turn off the heat, and squeeze some lime juice if you prefer.
  • Take Broccoli Stir Fry into a serving bowl, garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.

Notes

  1. Lime Juice: Chaat Masala provides a little tanginess to the dish. So add lime juice if you want to make it more zesty and refreshing. 
  2. Coriander Leaves: Instead of fresh coriander leaves, you can add other herbs of your choice, like parsley, mint, or basil.
