Avocado Cilantro Dressing is a five-minute recipe that makes creamy, delicious, fresh, and healthy sauce or dip. It requires a few ingredients and can be used in various dishes!
Avocado Cilantro Dressing requires only a handful of ingredients and a blender. It is light, earthy, mildly spicy (only if you want), tangy, full of freshness, and made without oil.
About Avocado Cilantro Dressing
My family loves Mexican cuisine, which is very similar to Indian cuisine. Both have bold flavors, varied spice levels, use of fresh produce, and vibrant colors.
We make Mexican-style food at least once weekly, including tacos, burritos, chimichangas, nachos, etc. However, our Mexican food is primarily a fusion style as we make only vegetarian dishes without onion and garlic.
I also make Homemade Taco Seasoning without onion and garlic and use it for various Mexican dishes.
This Avocado Cilantro Dressing is versatile, and we use it for various recipes. For example, I serve this sauce with chimichangas and drizzle it on tacos and salad, and I love to pour it over Mexican Bhel.
But this can also be used for pasta or as a sauce with any of your Mexican dishes. In addition, this dressing can be used for Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries or simply as a dip for tortilla chips!
It may sound weird, but we love to have this dressing as a dipping sauce with pizza. Most dipping sauces contain eggs or onion and garlic, so this dressing is an excellent option as a creamy dip for us.
Why You Will Love This Dressing
- It is an easy and quick recipe.
- The dressing is versatile and can be used for many dishes.
- It is creamy, light, healthy, and full of freshness.
- There is no oil used in this dressing.
- Avocado Cilantro Dressing is full of earthy flavors and absolutely delicious.
Ingredients
- Avocado: We need to use ripe avocado to make the dressing. A very firm and unripe avocado will make the sauce bitter. Avoid using avocado that is mushy and stringy inside. After cutting the avocado, if you run into brown flesh, scoop those out, and discard them.
- Cilantro: Use fresh cilantro for the best flavors. If the stems are tender, you can use leaves and stems.
- Green Chili: I like to provide mild heat to this dressing, so I have used a small green chili with seeds. Instead of green chili, you can also use jalapeno pepper for the heat. Or use the jalapeno pepper without seeds if you do not want a spicy dressing.
- Yogurt or Sour Cream: Use Greek yogurt or sour cream for the creamier and richer dressing. But if you do not have any of them, you can use plain yogurt. I have made the sauce using all of them, and every time it tastes delicious!
- Salt and Pepper: Season the dressing according to your taste preference.
- Water: Start with ¼ cup of water as mentioned in the recipe, and then add more if required to adjust the consistency.
- Lime Juice: It enhances the flavors of the Avocado Cilantro Dressing and adds freshness. Also, it prevents the avocado from browning. Add the lime juice to your taste.
How To Make Avocado Cilantro Dressing
- Add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender.
- Start slow and then increase the speed to make a smooth mixture.
- If the mixture is too thick, add water as needed to reach a dressing-like consistency.
- Use it immediately or store it in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to a week.
Suggestions To Use This Sauce
- Use it as a dressing for your favorite salad. For example, it goes well with a fresh summer salad or bean salad.
- This dressing can also be used for pasta salad.
- You can use this sauce for the zucchini noodles.
- Serve it with vegetarian chimichangas or bean burritos.
- Drizzle the sauce over enchiladas or nachos.
- You can also drizzle the sauce on the Mexican Bhel before serving.
- This dressing can be used as a dip with tortilla chips.
- If you want creamy and rich but egg-free dipping sauce for your pizza night, this one is a great option!
Helpful Tips
- Avocado: Use only ripe avocado; the unripe avocado will make the dressing bitter and unpleasant. However, do not use overripe avocado, which is stringy and has many brown spots.
- Green Chili: If you do not want even a mild heat in your sauce, skip it. Or, instead of green chili, you can use jalapeno pepper.
- Yogurt or Sour Cream: You can use either one! Greek yogurt and sour cream make the sauce creamier and richer, but plain yogurt also works.
- Consistency: You can keep the consistency to your choice. If you want to use it for salad or to drizzle, keep it thinner, and to use it as a dipping sauce, keep it thicker.
- Scaling: You can easily double the recipe to make it in a large quantity.
