Easy Almond Butter and Jam Waffles
We love waffles for breakfast or brunch. While my family equally loves Eggless Pancakes (Light and Fluffy), I found making waffles is easy and mess-free! Also, we can easily freeze the waffles, so I like to make them in a big batch.
Now, coming back to these waffles, I have added ½ cup of almond flour with all-purpose flour. Almond flour enhances the taste and also helps provide a delicate texture.
To make this recipe healthier, you can swap half of the all-purpose flour with white whole wheat or whole wheat flour. You can also check out this recipe for whole wheat waffles: Banana Waffles / Eggless Whole Wheat Banana Waffles.
Topping the waffles with almond butter provides a nutty and buttery flavor. Jam adds a sweet and fruity taste, making the waffles delicious and satisfying.
However, go creative and add your choice of toppings. You can add your choice of jam or swap almond butter for your choice of nut butter.
This recipe is quick, has easy-to-customize toppings, is made without eggs, and provides crispy golden waffles with a light and fluffy interior!

Ingredients and Notes
- All-Purpose Flour: I used unbleached all-purpose flour. If you want to use whole wheat flour, swap half of the plain flour with whole wheat flour.
- Almond Flour: I used almond flour made from blanched almonds. If you do not have almond flour, you can use almond meal. Almond meal is made by grinding almonds into powder. It contains almond skin, which will add an extra nutty taste to the waffles.
- Sugar: Use white granulated sugar, cane sugar, or raw sugar. I added cane sugar.
- Baking Powder and Baking Soda: These leavening agents make the waffles light and fluffy.
- Salt: It adds flavor and a contrast to the sweetness. But you can skip it if you want.
- Buttermilk: I made my own buttermilk by mixing milk and white vinegar. I have published an entire post on the buttermilk substitute; check out here: Homemade Buttermilk Substitute. However, if you have store-bought buttermilk, you can use it to make these Almond Butter and Jam Waffles.
- Vanilla: Use pure vanilla for the best flavor.
- Almond Extract: For the flavor, you can add almond extract. But if you do not have it, skip it.
- Toppings: As the name suggests, I top these waffles with almond butter and jam. I like strawberry jam, but you can use your choice of jam. Add fresh fruits on top, such as bananas and berries.
How To Make Almond Butter and Jam Waffles
- Preheat your oven to 200°F and place a baking sheet with a wire rack inside. This step is optional, and if you are serving waffles immediately or later on, you do not need to use the oven.
- Whisk together flour, almond flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl for the waffles.
- Pour the buttermilk, melted butter, vanilla, and almond extract, and whisk to combine.
- Be careful not to overmix.
- Cover and set the mixture aside for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- When the waffle iron is ready, pour about ½ cups of batter into each waffle well.
- I do not need to grease my waffle iron, but if you do, then grease it with cooking spray before pouring the batter.
- Cook until crisp and golden brown, about 5-6 minutes, depending on your waffle iron.
- Transfer the cooked waffles to the warm oven, then continue with the rest of the batter.
- For the topping, heat the jam in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave just until warm.
- To serve, spoon over almond butter, jam, and a little maple syrup or honey to taste.
- You can also top it with fresh fruits such as bananas or berries.
Substitutions
All-Purpose Flour: If you want to make the waffles with whole wheat flour, swap half of the plain flour with it.
Almond Flour: Don’t have almond flour? No worries. Place whole almonds in a blender jar and grind into a fine powder. Use this almond meal instead of almond flour.
Butter: If you do not want to use butter, add 3 tablespoon of neutral-flavored oil.
Almond Butter: Instead of almond butter for the topping, use other choices of nut butter if you want.
