About Flatbread Pizza with Herbed Ricotta
This flatbread pizza is a simple recipe, and you can easily customize it with your favorite toppings. If you choose to use store-bought flatbread, you will get hot pizza on your plate in less than 20 minutes!
The combination of ricotta and mozzarella makes this flatbread pizza deliciously cheesy. I have seasoned the ricotta with salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and red flakes to include more flavors in each bite.
This flatbread pizza with herbed ricotta is topped with spinach, tomatoes, mozzarella, pickled jalapeno, and fresh basil. However, you can customize the pizza with your favorite toppings and make it your family’s favorite weeknight meal!
I like to add red pepper flakes and pickled jalapeno for spiciness. But they are optional; you can skip or adjust them according to your taste.
Serve these hot, delicious flatbread pizzas as a lunch, dinner, or as a side dish.

Ingredients
- Flatbread: I have used store-bought (stone-baked) flatbread for this recipe. But you can use homemade or your favorite store-bought flatbread. You can also use Naan for this recipe.
- Ricotta Cheese: Use full-fat or low-fat ricotta cheese; you can use either homemade or store-bought. I have seasoned the cheese for more flavors. You can add more herbs and spices of your choice if you prefer.
- Milk: A little milk is required to thin out the ricotta cheese slightly so it can easily be spread.
- Herbs: I have added dried oregano and basil to the ricotta cheese. You can add more herbs of your choice if you like.
- Seasonings: Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste to ricotta cheese.
- Red Pepper Flakes: We like our flatbread with some spice, so I added red pepper flakes to ricotta cheese and sprinkled some on top of the flatbread.
- Lemon Juice: It enhances the flavor of herbed ricotta cheese and adds a slight tang for the better.
- Spinach: I love using spinach as a topping on my pizza. I have used organic baby spinach.
- Tomatoes: Tomato slices go amazingly well with herbed ricotta and mozzarella.
- Mozzarella: Even though the highlight of this flatbread pizza is ricotta cheese, pizza is incomplete without mozzarella, right? So, I have topped the pizza with some shredded mozzarella. However, you can add as much as you want or add a preferred cheese blend instead of mozzarella.
- Pickled Jalapeno: A topping of pickled jalapeno adds flavor and heat. But, if you prefer this flatbread pizza on the milder side, skip jalapeno peppers. Or, instead of pickled, you can use fresh jalapeno slices.
