Ingredients

  • 300 g dark chocolate chopped
  • 350 g sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • A pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • cup toasted and chopped almonds (optional)

Instructions

Preparations

  • Grease an 8x8-inch square pan with butter and line with parchment paper, leaving an inch overhang on all sides.

Stovetop Method

  • Stir condensed milk, butter, and chopped chocolate together in a medium saucepan.
  • Heat the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth. Be careful here, and do not overcook the chocolate mixture.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and add vanilla, salt, and chopped nuts. Mix well and pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan.
  • Chill the fudge until set, about 2-3 hours. Remove from the pan and cut into squares.

Microwave Method

  • Combine condensed milk, butter, and chopped chocolate in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
  • Heat in microwave for one minute. Stir well and allow the heat to melt the chocolate. If needed, microwave the mixture for another 20-30 seconds until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add vanilla, salt, and chopped nuts, and mix well. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan.
  • Chill the fudge until set, about 2-3 hours. Remove from the pan and cut into squares.

Storing Suggestions

  • You can store the fudge at room temperature or in the fridge. If kept at room temperature, the fudge will be softer.

Notes

  1. Chocolate: I like to use dark chocolate bars and then chop them for the fuge. However, you can also use chocolate chips. Instead of dark chocolate, you can also use semi-sweet chocolate.
  2. Salt: I like to add a pinch of sea salt, but it is optional. Or, if you use salted butter, do not add salt.
  3. Nuts: I love toasted almonds in this fudge. But feel free to add your choice of nuts or skip it.
  4. Melting The Chocolate: Whether you use a stovetop or microwave, it is essential not to overheat the mixture. If using a stovetop, heat the mixture on low heat and stir it constantly. If you use the microwave, after each heating interval, mix the mixture thoroughly and allow the heat to melt the chocolate.
